Winter Wine Bar looking fantastic

Ty’r Winch Winter Wine Bar Opens This Weekend – Your Festive Favourite Returns

There’s something magical about winter at Ty’r Winch — the lights, the atmosphere, and that unmistakable feeling of community. And now, one of our most-loved seasonal traditions is back. Our Winter Wine Bar officially opens this weekend, and we can’t wait to welcome you in for a festive drink (or two!).

A Cosy Winter Escape in St Mellons

Tucked outside the main pub in its own beautifully decorated space, our Winter Wine Bar has become a go-to spot for locals looking to unwind during the festive season. Expect warm lighting, rustic winter décor, and that unmistakable Ty’r Winch charm — the perfect backdrop for catching up with friends, sneaking in a date night, or warming up after Christmas shopping.

What’s On the Menu?

This year we’ve curated a fantastic mix of winter warmers and pub favourites, including:

  • Homemade Goulash Soup – rich, hearty, and perfect for chilly evenings
  • Mulled Wine – gently spiced and served piping hot
  • Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream – a favourite for both adults and kids
  • Beers, Ciders & Wines – all your favourites from the main bar
  • 0% & Low-Alcohol Options – for those driving or pacing themselves

We’ve kept everything simple, comforting, and full of flavour — just what winter calls for.

Opening Dates for 2025

We’ll be open on the following dates:

Friday 5th & Saturday 6th
Friday 12th & Saturday 13th
Thursday 19th – Tuesday 24th (six days straight!)

Come along once… or come along every night. We don’t judge.

Perfect for Festive Meet-Ups

Whether you’re planning a Christmas catch-up with friends, a family evening out, or a quick drink after work, the Winter Wine Bar gives you a relaxed festive space without the need to book. Just turn up, grab a drink, and settle into the winter vibes.

A New Summer Menu Is Arriving at Ty’r Winch We’ve been working on this one for a while. Our new summer menu will be arriving at Ty’r Winch next week — a refresh of some of our most popular dishes, alongside a handful of new additions we’re really excited about. As always, the focus is simple: good ingredients, cooked properly, and dishes you’ll want to come back for. This latest menu will bring a lighter feel for the warmer months, with a mix of seasonal flavours, fresh ingredients, and a few stronger, richer dishes still there for those who know exactly what they like. Some of our favourites have been refined, and a number of new dishes will be introduced across the menu — all designed to sit comfortably alongside what Ty’r Winch has become known for. Whether you’re joining us for a relaxed lunch, an evening meal, or something a little more special, the new menu is designed to suit every occasion. To celebrate the launch, we’ll be offering 25% off all new dishes from Wednesday to Saturday during launch week . It’s a great opportunity to come and try something new, and to experience the menu from day one.

A Spanish Tapas & Wine Pairing Evening at Ty’r Winch There are some evenings that come together effortlessly — and our recent Spanish Tapas & Wine Pairing Night was certainly one of them. Hosted in our upstairs function suite, the evening began with a glass of fizz on arrival, before guests were guided through a carefully curated six-course tapas menu — each dish thoughtfully paired with wines selected to complement and elevate every flavour. Our kitchen, led by Sam alongside Spanish chef Jimmy Miranda, created a menu that stayed true to traditional Spanish influences while still feeling refined and generous. From rustic breads and cured meats to rich, slow-cooked dishes and delicate seafood, each course was designed to be enjoyed, shared and savoured. The wine element was at the heart of the evening. Hosted by our sommelier Tristan Hawkins, guests were taken through each pairing with a relaxed, informative approach — offering insight into the wines, their origins, and why they worked so well with each dish. It added a real sense of occasion, without ever feeling formal. It was a pleasure to host the evening alongside Tristan, and to see guests fully embracing the experience — trying new wines, discovering new favourites, and enjoying the journey from start to finish. What really made the night, though, was the atmosphere. A full room, tables chatting between courses, glasses being raised, and that warm, easy feeling that comes when everything just flows as it should. We’d like to say a genuine thank you to everyone who joined us. These evenings are something we truly enjoy putting together, and it was great to share it with so many of you. We’ll certainly be hosting more evenings like this in the near future. — Andrew & Lorna
